Wardie Parents and Staff Association (P.S.A.)
What do we do and how can you help?
Over the last ten years Wardie PSA has raised nearly £50,000 through a series of fun events, by selling new and used school uniforms, school calendars, Christmas cards and Eco bags. The highlight of our year is always the May Fair, which last year involved over 50 volunteers and raised the marvellous sum of £4,000.
The money we raise helps Wardie pupils in many ways. Last year our main focus was to help raise funds for Wardie’s successful Smartboards campaign and for the new equipment in the P4-7 playground. This year we are concentrating on raising money to spruce up Wardie’s Drama Base.
In addition to these very visible projects we also provide smaller sums of money towards football strips, special school activities, Christmas parties and school supplies. For example, last year we were delighted to pay for the hire of a bus to take the P6 football team, and supporters, to the Scottish Schools Cup Final, which Wardie won! Quite an achievement!
We can’t do all this without the support of parents. All parents and staff are automatically members of Wardie PSA and it is up to you to decide how much you want to get involved, and in what capacity. We really hope you want to help us continue in our efforts to raise money for the school. You can do this by joining the PSA Committee, by joining the PSA email mailing list or by volunteering to help at a specific event. We are always on the lookout for new ideas, so please don’t be shy and help us support the school.
There have been some changes on the PSA Committee this year. Nicola Pickavance has taken over the role of Chair and Joan Orr has taken over the role of Treasurer. Dallas Mechan is continuing on as Secretary and Rachael Tring, Suzy King and Trudi Butler have all taken on a more active role on the Committee.
If you think you want to take an active role in Wardie PSA, or if you simply want to receive regular updates regarding our activities please send your contact details to: nicolapickavance@blueyonder.co.uk
