            Ten Things You Should Know About The Parent Council
 

1.

We are very friendly and approachable!

2.

It is one of two parent-led committees in the school (the other is the Parent Staff Association).                                                                                                                                                                          

3.

It was established to:
➢    support the school in the education of our children;
➢    To represent the views of parents on various issues e.g. during school inspections;
➢    To promote links with the wider community and nurseries.

4.

The functions of Parent Councils have been set out by legislation (Scottish Schools

(Parental involvement) Act 2006).

5.

The Parent Council aims to have one representative of each class in the school.

6.

The aims of Wardie Parent Council, and details of how we work are set out in our

constitution (see this website for details)

7.

Topics we discussed last year included:

➢    feedback to staff on the timing and format of formal meetings between staff

      and parents;

➢    involvement of parents with individual pupil learning folios;

➢    how to solve the flooding problems at the front gate;

➢    how to communicate better with all parents in the school.

➢    stopping a Parent Council member in the playground (our photo’s are on this website);

➢    sending an email to wardieparentcouncil@hotmail.co.uk;

➢    posting a note to us in the mailbox situated just inside the school main door.
